The Bead & Proceed Kit is perfect for hosting your own SDG workshop! It’s a creative group activity where people come together to each paint a 5 beaded necklace, keyring, or bracelet that represents the 5 SDGs most important to them and that they want to work on. Bead & Proceed serves as a catalyst to empower and inspire action towards the SDGs from a grassroots level. This is achieved by the activity itself, providing a creative space for ideas to flow, thoughts and insights about global issues to be honestly and authentically communicated while using the SDGs as a discussion framework. This links to our how - Bead & Proceed allows people to think up creative solutions to solve the SDGs, work towards the 5 they have committed to and become an advocate for the goals, to help spread awareness.
Solving the SDGs will require out-of-the-box solutions and creativity sparks creativity. That’s why it is key to foster an environment that allows you to think up innovative and alternative solutions to tackle the SDGs. The necklace, keyring, and bracelet also serves as a conversation starter because, it’s be honest, it’s bold and bright and naturally people want to know about it. This is your turn to explain the goals and tell those who ask what your top 5 are - helping to raise awareness for the SDGs. Of course, your beads also remind you of your commitment to your chosen 5 as you physically wear them!
Our Kits are designed and handmade by the amazing people from Silence. Silence is an organisation located in Kolkata, India and provides safe and quality employment for adults have hearing, speaking or physical disabilities (a group often marginalised in Indian society - SDG 10). Silence is a partner of trade aid and World Fair Trade Certified (SDG 8). The Kits are also made from recycled paper and the beads are made from recycled wooden pallets (SDG 12). Our paint is sourced from the Natural Paint Company, which is eco-friendly and for every square metre of area painted, the Natural Paint Company saves a square metre of amazon rainforest (SDG 13 and 15). To date, Bead and Proceed has saved over 1,000 square metres of Amazon Rainforest with the paint used from our Kits and workshops. We ensure that whatever we do and whoever we work with are SDG aligned. Of course… let’s not forget… for every Kit purchased, another is donated to a low decile school or deserving community organisation.
